Primary Enterprise Programme
Our role in the wider community is also very important to us, as part of our Primary Enterprise Programme we work with our six local primary schools to start developing enterprise skills as early as possible.
An example of an activity is the “Fruit Challenge”. This activity focuses on business and enterprise skills in Year 6.
Pupils work in small teams as Fruit Producers to compete against each other to make the largest profit. All their essential resources are purchased with an initial start up loan of £50 from the bank.
The bankers are played by Year 10 pupils from our own school using their own knowledge to advise and support the younger pupils. This activity engages pupils in finance education at an early age and in a very exciting way. Pupils develop an understanding of borrowing, savings, interest rates and the fluctuating market place. Working with primary pupils in this way forms an intrinsic part of our transition work.
Other projects with the primary school have included support for setting up their own mini enterprises, The Bridge Challenge, Paper Bag Game and X-Factor style presentations.
