Creative Arts
The Creative Arts department is home to Art and the Performing Arts disciplines of Drama, Dance and Music. The very nature of these disciplines lend themselves to a creative learning and an area of the school where students can really express themselves.

The Creative Arts curriculum is an exciting and stimulating selection of subject areas that are available to our students from KS3 to KS4. All levels of study are offered to cater for both the academic and vocational needs of our students. The teaching and learning environment of our Arts is both relaxed and stimulating, lead by staff that demand high standards but do this in a manner that reflects their wealth of experience and creativity: it’s a nice place to be!
As a department we firmly believe that the Creative Arts are about performance and “showing off” our work, whether it be the annual Clayton’s
Got Talent Showcase, our theatrical performances and dance shows or our Arts exhibitions and Trashion Shows. Whats more we are focused on offering our students the very latest in Arts practice and widening the scope to include even more students on an ever-growing spectrum of courses.
We are strongly committed to realising our students’ learning potential and root our teaching in a multiple intelligences-based curriculum that celebrates a variety of different teaching and learning styles, both within the individual art disciplines and across them. Our Art, Drama, Dance and Music lessons are inspired and often at the cutting edge of educational practice. We encourage creativity and the ability to think ‘outside the box’, whilst insisting upon high standards of achievement.
As well as a stimulating class-based learning environment, we aim to offer our students a rich and diverse extra curricular programme of events, these include day-release and residential visits both within the UK and Europe, Artist in Residence weekly courses in Hip-Hop and Street Dance and three to four Creative Arts shows per year.
As such Creative Arts at Clayton is a vibrant and dynamic department that strongly believes in empowering its students to become independent and responsible learners.
