Information and Computer Technology

Key Stage 3

All pupils follow a course that delivers their National Curriculum entitlement. The programmes of study are taught through a range of contexts, many of which arise from other curriculum areas thus providing examples of good practice in the use of ICT across the curriculum.

MyComputer

Topics Taught:

    * Creating a presentation.
    * Using data and information sources.
    * Making a leaflet.
    * Modelling and presenting numeric data.
    * Data handling.
    * Control and monitoring.

Key Stage 4

- all students are timetabled for GCSE Short Course ICT. In practice almost all are presented for GCSE Full Course ICT. The modular OCR Specification B allows a flexible approach that can be formulated so that it suits the needs of each pupil.
Topics Taught:

    * Public information systems.
    * Publishing on the web.
    * Information - reliability, validity and bias.
    * Models and presenting numeric data.

CHILI (Clayton Hall Independent Learning Initiative)

The department makes extensive us of CHILI, the school's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Student's can access many of the courses and their associated resources through this gateway both in school and from home.
